The Quiet Adoptable System Version 1.1

Table of contents:
- Introduction
- FAQs
- Members and Helpers
- Examples with source eeCode

Section 1: Introduction/b]
I, Nerdzrool, on May 11th, 2005, officially boycott all adoptables that spam the forums of eCritters. People complain about the adoptable crisis on the Art forum but contribute it the crisis by making adoptables the same way the people they complain about do it. All adoptables created on any forum of eCritters from this day is frowned on by me and I recommend you do so too. Refuse to adopt the adoptables posted on the art forum or any other public forum on eC. If more people join the "quiet adoptable" plan, we can restore the Art forum back to its old glory.

Section 2: FAQs/b]
What qualifies as a quiet adoptable?
There are three guidelines as of Version 1.1.
- The adoptable's adoption process is fully contained in a profile, shop and or eeMail conversation.
- The adoptable requires no RP/Contest or other counter-part that occurs off of a user profile and or eeMail conversations. Forcing that the user RP with their adoptable is not a quiet adoptable
- The adoptables themselves are not required to be placed on user signatures in order to be adopted. The profile and user shop should be sufficient.
-Advertisments for the adoptable profile are to not be solicited. In other words, do post about your adoptable profile on the forums and do not send eeMails about your adoptable profile unless the person you are eeMailing asks for a link to it. You can link to your adoptable profile from your main account's profile and/or signature.

How will quiet adoptables work towards restoring the Art forum?

Quiet adoptables won't do it alone, the boycott is the key to the success of this enterprise. Refusing to adopt any adoptable that is not a "quiet adoptable" will make the project a success. Users will create an account for their adoptables (Your current user account will work for this) and place their adoptables in their profile. If you see users not using the quiet adoptable way, you can tell them about the new movement to help spread it over eeMail. Denying the adoption of anything that does not qualify as a quiet adoptable is the best way to change people's positions on adoptables. Likewise adopting only quiet adoptables will help push the movement. If nobody wants their adoptable because it is not a quiet adoptable, they will change to quiet adoptables and help the movement by doing so. Eventually, because of the boycott against non-quiet adoptables, non-quiet adoptables will starve and they will dissappear once and for all, restoring the Art forum back to what it once was and yet adoptables can still be distributed, just in a different manner, excluding the Art forum altogether.

Why is Nerdzrool taking a position on this? He hardly frequents the Art forum.

I am sick of people posting about how annoying adooptables are and how they are destroying the Art forum. The same as most people really. Sure, I never contribute any art to the Art forum but I used to frequent it back when it had good art. I enjoyed the forum and it was slowly polluted to become what it is now. I am also taking a position because Eurleif will not create an adoptable forum even though it should have its own forum because of its nature. If the fourm were to be created, there wouldn't be a need to move to quiet adoptables.

Since the adoptable pages are inside of shops, won't it be expensive to run free adoptables?

No. If you cannot afford the shop, you technically do not need to have the shop. You can just place the adopt information directly into your profile. However, if you want adoptable shops but cannot afford them, don't worry about costs. If you eeMail Nerdzrool with a request that you cannot afford to fund your quiet adoptable profile, he will help you fund it with food items and play items so you will be able to run it for free. If you are interested in sponsoring user's adoptable profiles eeMail Nerdzrool as well and he may have users that are looking for funding.

But how will people know about my adoptable profile if I am not allowed to post about it?

Well, that is where this profile comes in. See, as soon as you have your adoptable profile set up eeMail Nerdzrool and notify him that you want to be added as a member. (read section 3 for details) That way, people who see this profile will be able to look in section 3 of this profile and "shop" for adoptables from your adoptable profile. Your adoptable profiles can then link to other people's adoptable profiles that you like as well as back here to create a good deal of traffic for all adoptable profile owners. This removes the need for creating topics on the Art forum.

Section 3: Members and Helpers/b]
By agreeing that you will not run a non-quiet adoptable service and join the boycotting of non-quiet adoptables you are elegable to become a member of the QAS Version 1. Send Nerdzrool an eeMail if you wish to bcome a member and to have a link to your adoptable profile here (or regular user profile if you are not an owner of an adoptable profile). This will help people find your adoptable profile, helping spread your adoptables and the message of the boycott.
