Their names are EVERYBODY, SOMEBODY, ANYBODY, and NOBODY. The story goes that there was a very important job that needed to be done. EVERYBODY was asked to do this job. Now ANYBODY could have done this job but NOBODY was willing to do it. Then SOMEBODY got angry about this because it was EVERYBODY'S job to do. Well, EVERYBODY thought that ANYBODY could have done it! But NOBODY realized that EVERYBODY blamed SOMEBODY for not doing the job. Still NOBODY did it. The arguing got worse and finally NOBODY would talk to ANYBODY and EVERYBODY blamed SOMEBODY. What a shame that ANYBODY could have done the job and EVERYBODY could have helped SOMEBODY but yet NOBODY did it! If there is something you know must be done, don't wait for ANYBODY else to do it or hope that SOMEBODY else will do it because NOBODY else will do it unless you show EVERYBODY else how to do it. "Angels" Once upon a time there was a child ready to be born. So one day he asked God: They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless? God said: Among the many angels, I chose one for you. She will be waiting for you and will take care of you. But tell me, here in Heaven, I don't do anything else but sing and smile, that's enough for me to be happy. Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you every day. And you will feel your angel's love and be happy. And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me, if I don't know the language that men talk? Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak. And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you? Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray. I've heard that on earth there are bad men. Who will protect me? Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life. But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore. Your angel will always talk to you about me and will teach you the way for you to come back to me, even though I will always be next to you. At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from earth could already be heard, and the child in a hurry asked softly: Oh God, if I am about to leave now, please tell me my angel's name. Your angel's name is of no importance. You will simply call her Mommy. Cat Got Your Tongue? Long ago, in a different time and location, animals were able to communicate in a similar way that people do teday-all amimals, that is, except for the cat. For some reason, cats were given tiny tongues that were good only for eating and lapping water, but they did not work well for communicating. The other animals didn't want to be seen with the cats, and they regarded the cats as lesser beings because they couldn't communicate well. Sometimes, as can happen, the meanest animals rediculed the cats, and chased them away when they came to the drinking pool or tried to foin a game. The final straw came one year when the cats were excluded from the spring celebrations. All animals liked to gather to celebrate the spring, and the cats were no different, but this time, the other animals dicided to exclude the cats. The cats, feeling they had had enough, called an urgent meeting. They formed a plan, which they would carry out that very night, while all the other animals were worn out and sleeping soundly from their celebration. And so, in the dark of night, the cats set out to steal the tongues of the other animals. The next morning when the other animals awoke, they forund that thery could no longer communicate. At first, they had no idea what had happened and they were frightened. They waved their paws, legs, and heads around, trying to make each other understand. Eventuallly, they realized that they had all lost their tongues...but who had done it? At the drinking pool, they forund the cats with the most satisfied look on their faces. They began gesturing to the cats to explain what happened. "Oh, we know very well what happened," said one of the cats in a voice so clear an loud that the other animals stood stock-still and stared. "Yes, we can all speak now. It's quite wonderful, really.""Yes," said the other cats, "wonderful. We've got your tongues, and now you can see how it is to be speechless!" And they turned and walked away with their noses and tails held high. The other animals were truly horrified and they called a meeting and sent a special request ot the animal ruler to settle the dispute. Upon hearing all of the details, the animal ruler thought long and hard. The leader hadn't realized that the cats were without voices before-and they had no way to say how mistreated they were! But thes new development was not right either. So, the ruler decreed that all animals would have the same level of speech. They would be able to communicate with like animals, but not with others. And for the cruel treatment they had received, the cats were given a more interesting language than the others, with purring sounds and many different ways to say "meow." And that is why your cat can purr and talk to you with such exprission, and why it might, at times, act just a little superior. And that is why, when people don't talk, others often say, "What's the matter, has the cat got your tongue?" Quote: Message: Okay, I picked twelve people who I thought would DO this. I hope I chose the right twelve. Please send this back to me (You'll see why). In case anyone is interested, Saint Theresa is known as the Saint of the Little Ways.
